Aamir Khan made his debut with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and today he is one of the biggest stars in India. Aamir Khan is always known for working differently and doing only one movie at a time. In a career spanning more than 3 decades, he gave many memorable performances. Here is a list of 6 lesser-known performances of Aamir Khan that deserved more accolades.

Raakh

Raakh was an offbeat movie which released just after Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. The movie also starred Pankaj Kapoor and Supriya Pathak. In the movie, Aamir Khan plays the character of a boy who is seeking revenge from the people who raped and murdered his girlfriend. Aamir Khan’s performance got him a special mention at the National Awards that year.

1947: Earth

1947: Earth was directed by Deepa Mehta and it was the second movie in her elements trilogy. Set during the time of partition, Aamir Khan plays a Muslim guy Dil Nawaz who is in love with a Hindu girl. Aamir Khan gave a brilliant performance as someone who was a lucky-go-happy guy but circumstances make him become someone he never imagined before. Watch out for the climax of the movie and you will get a shock for sure.

Talaash

Directed by ReemaKagti, Talaash is a murder mystery movie. The movie also features Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor, and Nawazuddin Siddique. Aamir Khan plays the character of a cop who is investigating an accident that seems more or less like a murder. He is also going through the personal trauma of losing his only child. Aamir Khan portrayed the emotions of the character brilliantly and it’s one of Aamir Khan’s underrated performances.

Dhobhighat

Dhobhighat was a 2010 movie directed by KiranRao, Aamir Khan’s ex-wife. It was not a commercial movie and it tells four different stories that are somehow interconnected. Aamir Khan plays the role of a reclusive painter in the movie who just got divorced. It was a very different role for Aamir Khan and he nailed it perfectly with his subtle performance.

Akele Hum Akele Tum

Akela Hum Akele Tum featured Aamir Khan and ManishaKoirala in the lead roles. It tells the story of a couple who aspired to make it big in the field of music and singing and how their personal life affects their career. The movie didn’t do well when released but we have to admit that Aamir Khan gave a brilliant performance in the movie as Rohit, an aspiring musician who fails to achieve his dreams.

Taare Zameen Par

TaareZameen Par was a 2007 movie produced and directed by Aamir Khan who also acted in the movie. Though Taare Zameen Par did quite well when released and DarsheelSafary as a child artist got all the accolades, it had a subtle performance by Aamir Khan also as Ram Shankar Nikumbbh as his mentor. Aamir Khan as an actor took a back seat for the movie and left Darsheel an ample scope to perform.
