There are around 200 breeds of dog human beings have discovered till now. They make the best pet among all animals because of the love, affection, and care they give to their owners. Dogs are truly man’s best friend. If you are planning to keep one as a pet then in this article we are giving detailed information about seven dog breeds if you are planning to get one as a pet.

  1. Saint Bernard

The Saint Bernard also known as St. Bernard belongs to the breed of large dogs to carry important works. It originated from the Western Alps in Italy and Switzerland. They were originally bred for rescue work for the laborers and workers. By nature, they are quite playful, charming, and inquisitive. Bred in the Swiss Alps is St. Bernard is one of the world’s most popular dog breeds. They are quite watchful especially when there is a baby in the house and because of this, it’s also called as ‘Nanny Dogs’. A normal male St. Bernard is about minimum 27.5 inches at the shoulder and females are little bit smaller but more delicately built.

  1. English Cocker Spaniel

 Cheerful and affectionate, the English Cocker Spaniel is a first-rate family companion dog and they are easily trainable also. The English Cocker Spaniel is a strong built sporting dog standing between 15 to 17 inches at the shoulder. It has got a soft contoured head, and a dark, melting eyes, and close-lying ears. It has a medium length coat, with attractive colours and patterns, you will feel silky while touching the coat. For those who prefer more domestic pursuits, there is no more charming and agreeable household companion. They are energetic, cheerful, loyal, and responsive and are an ideal choice to keep as a pet dog.

 The Weimaraner first originated in Germany and sleek and swift ‘ is called Gray Ghost,’ because in the earlier times they gave companionship to hunters. Today they make very good pet dogs because of their characteristics like being friendly, fearless, and obedient. These breed of dogs enjoy doing physical activities and also love to be with their owners. Weimaraners have got distinguishing silvery-gray coat, which makes it easy to recognise them. A male Weimaraner is about 25 to 27 inches at the shoulder, and females 23 to 25 inches. An appropriately bred Weimaraner will have solid colours, and sometimes few of them have a small white spot on the chest. It has got blue-gray eyes framed by long velvety ears and is quite friendly and intelligent making it a good family dog.

4.  Shih Tzu

Shih Tzu is a very cute toy dog which is playful, affectionate, and outgoing by nature. Its name is pronounced as ‘sheed zoo’ in the West and the Chinese pronounce it as ‘sher-zer’. Its weight is around 9 to 16 pounds, and standing between 8 and 11 inches, is unexpectedly dense for dogs of this size. The coat comes in an array of colours. If groomed properly Shih Tzu, looks very beautiful and cute. It’s a very charming dog making it an ideal choice to be kept as a pet. They are very affectionate, especially towards the children. Keeping them does not need big space and it loves sitting on the laps of their owners.

 5. Dalmatian

 The Dalmatian is a breed of a medium-sized dog, and known for its unique white coat marked with black or brown-colored spots. They are very energetic and playful and are a very sensitive breed of dog. Dalmatians are quite loyal to their owners and very friendly with children, though few Dalmatian experts say that because of being too energetic, it may unintentionally hurt very small children. Dalmatian is a very intelligent dog, easy to train, and makes for very good watchdogs.

  Doberman Pinscher is a medium-large breed of dog that was first bred and developed by Louis Dobermann, a tax collector from Germany in 1890 by Louis Dobermann, a tax collector from Germany and that’s why it got the name Doberman. Their main characteristics include alertness, loyalty, and being fearless. Doberman Pinscher is lustrous and powerful with an outstanding physique and it’s very intelligent also making them a good watchdog. It’s also counted among the world’s one of the best dog for protection.

 

7.Vizsla

 

The Vizsla is a naturally hunter dog who used to accompany its owners for hunting. It has got an outstanding nose and is quite easy to train. It was actually bred to work in fields, forests, or bodies of water and hunting. It is a quite versatile, red-coated gundog bred for working for long days in the field. It is a very sporting dog and a loyal companion to the owners. By nature it is a quite lively, gentle-mannered, evidently affectionate, and sensitive dog. It is also quite fearless and has a strong protective instinct making it a perfect protection dog.
