Five Upcoming Movies That Show Why the Future Belongs to Bollywood

In the last couple of years, we have seen people losing interest in Bollywood and giving more preferences to South Indian movies making movies such as RRR, Kantara, Pushpa: The Rise, and KGF2 big hits but the year 2023 started with Pathaan which became the biggest hit of Indian cinema making more than 500 crores in India and 1000 crores worldwide. Then the Ranbir Kapoor-Sharddha Kapoor movie also earned more than 100 crores at the box office making it a successful movie. Here we have listed the names of five upcoming Bollywood movies that will show why the future belongs to Bollywood.

  1. Sam Bahadur

Sam Bahadur is directed by Meghna Gulzar who earlier directed successful movies such as Talvar and Raazi. It’s a biographical movie about the real-life hero, Field Marshal Sam Mankeshaw who played an important role in the victory of India during the 1971 Indo-Pak war which led to the creation of Bangladesh and the surrender of 90,000 Pakistani soldiers. Talented and versatile actor Vicky Kaushal is playing Sam Mankeshaw. Dangal girls Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra are also playing important roles in the movie where Fatima Sana Shaikh is playing the then Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi while Sanya Malhotra is donning the role of the wife of Sam Mankeshaw. It’s scheduled for release on 1st December 2023.

  1. Dream Girl 2

Dream Girl 2 starring Ayushmann Khurana and Ananya Pandey in lead roles along with Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Manjot Singh is the sequel to the 2019 movie dream girl which was a big hit. It’s directed by Raaj Shaandilya who directed the first part also. Though Ayushmann Khurana is going through a rough patch as a few of his last movies bombed at the box office, it’s expected that with Dream Girl 2 he will make a comeback. It’s releasing on 7 July 2024.

  1. Bheed

Bheed is an upcoming movie directed by Anubhav Sinha who debuted with the hit movie Tum Bin but after a few failures in commercial movies, he made his comeback with realistic movies such as Mulk, Thappad, and Article 13. Bheed is based on the Corona epidemic and the lockdown following which left the whole nation in frizzy for almost two years. The movie stars brilliant actors Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles along with Ashutosh Rana, Pankaj Kapoor, and Dia Mirza. It will be released on 24 March 2023.

  1. Khufiya

Directed by the maverick director Vishal Bhardwaj, Khufiya is a neo-noir spy thriller film. Based on the book Escape to Nowhere by Amar Bhushan the movie stars Tabu, Ashish Vidyarthi, Ali Faizal, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Along with directing the movie Vishal Bhardwaj is also directing the movie and it will release directly on Netflix on April 12, 2023. The movie is based on a real-life incident involving the Indian intelligence agency RAW (Research & Analysis Wing Department.) where a mole is selling important documents and defense secrets.

  1. OMG 2 ( Oh My God 2)

OMG 2 ( Oh My God 2) is the spiritual sequel to the superhit OMG – Oh My God! which was released in 2012. OMG – Oh My God! Featured Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal and was a satirical take on religion and superstition and was a big hit. OMG 2 is a satirical comedy-drama film revolving around the education system and stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Arun Govil, and Yami Gautam while it’s directed by Amit Rai. The release date is not yet announced but it’s sure to get a good opening because of being a sequel to a successful movie. Reportedly Akshay Kumar is playing Lord Shiva while Arun Govil is playing Lord Ram in the movie.
