Isha Sharvani: The Dancer Turned Actress

Isha Sharvani was born on 29 September 1984 in Gujarat. She is the eldest daughter of an acclaimed danseuse (a female ballet dancer). Daksha Sheth and Australian musician father Dev Issaro. Her childhood was mostly spent in Ahmedabad and then moved to Delhi, Vrindavan, and Bangalore, before settling down in Trivandrum. She started her formal training at the age of mere 13 in Kalariapattu, Kathak, and Chau Dance forms from her mother. Regarding her education, she did her schooling from the Australian School of Isolated and Distance Education, Australia so she can give more time to her dance training. Her Hobbies are reading books, dancing and travelling. She dated Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan for 8 years and then they broke up. She is still unmarried.

Coming to her career, she is a well-known contemporary dancer and made her movie debut in SubhashGhai’sKisna opposite VivekOberai in 2005. She acted in Bollywood movies like Darwaza Band Rakho, Good Boy Bad Boy, U, Me Aur Hum, Rocky: The Rebel, David, and Luck By Chance. Apart from Hindi she also acted in some other languages movies like Maattrran in Tamil, David which was shot both in Hindi and Tamil, 5 Sundarikal, IyobintePutstakam, and Double Barrel in Hindi. In 2017, she did a small role in Irfan Khan starrer movie QariQarib Single and did a cameo in DilBechara.

In 2012, she took part in JhalakDikhlaJa 5 where she reached the top 3 positions but had to quit the show because of an injury. She also did TV Commercials like Hide & Seek with Hrithik Roshan and DaburVaitka Shop. She is the lead dancer in the Daksha Seth Agency and gave performances both in India and abroad along with her brother, mother, and father.  She always preferred Dance over movies and in an interview she said that ” I lived a different life poles apart from the film industry. For 11 years I have been training eight to 10 hours a day in a very disciplined atmosphere where there is no distinction between boys and girls. I was not supposed to cry over a clipped nail. Beyond the stage, even my wardrobe has mostly been unisexual dresses, jeans and T-shirts”

According to her, she is open to acting in Bengali films, but the role should interest her. And though she has shown that she has marvelous dance skills, but she has not been given a challenging role that requires her to show her dancing skills in the movie but she hopes she will get one soon.
