Akshay Kumar played the character which was played by Anthony Hopkins in the original. He helps Preity Zinta to nab a serial killer and Akshay Kumar gave one of his best performances in the movie. Akshay Kumar hismlself considers Sangharsh as his best performance and we could not agree more.

Jaanwar

Jaanwar was directed by Sunil Darshn where Akshay Kumar plays the character of a former gangster who mends his ways and tries to live a crime free life for the sake of a baby he finds in a train crash. But after 7 years when the baby is grown up and started going to school, his past catches him up and rest of the movie is about how he deals with it. The movie came during the time when most of Akshay’s movies were not working at the box-office but Jaanwar breath a new life in his career and proved to be a commercial success and for the first time critics started noticing Akshay Kumar as a good actor also as he gave a commendable performance in the movie.

Garam Masala

Doing comedy is a serious job and the ability to make people laugh is not easy and with Garam Masala, Akshay Kumar proved his mettle as a comic actor also. Directed by Priyadrashan, Garam Masala also featured John Abraham, Rajpal Yadav and PareshRawal. The movie was a laugh riot and Akshay Kumar did a top notch job as Mac, a flirtreous guy who is having three girlfriends at a time. Even after the presence of great comic actors like Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, it was Akshay Kumar who shined the most in the movie with his perfect comic timing.

Baby

Baby was an espionage thriller movie directed by Neeraj Pandey who earlier directed critically acclaimed movies like  A Wednesday and Special 26. In the movie Akshay plays an intelligence officer who is in a covert mission to nab a runaway terrorist played by Kay Kay Menon. Akshay Kumar gave a top notch performance with a straight face and he got lots of critical acclaim for the movie.

Manmarziya

Rustom was released in 2016 where Akshay Kumar played the role a naval officer and the movie was inspired by the famous K.M. Nanavati vs State of Maharashtra case. The movie was both a critical and commercial success and Akshay Kumar won his first National Award as an actor for his performance in the movie. The movie also featured Illena d’ Cruz, Esha Gupta in important roles.
