Movies made on real incidents or people mostly do well be it in Bollywood or Hollywood because it brings incidents on screen we have only heard or learned about. In India, such movies most of the time do good business be it the old Sohram Modi’s period dramas or movies such as Bajrao-Mastani, Airlift, or Padman. Here we have created a list of five upcoming movies inspired by real-life incidents or people.
- Soorarai Pottru Remake
Soorarai Pottru was a Tamil movie released in 2020 that was inspired by the life of G. R. Gopinath who started low fare airlines we know today as Deccan Airlines. It will be remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, and Paresh Rawal who was in the original Tamil movie also and will reprise his character in the remake. It’s directed by Kongra, the director of the Tamil version, and is produced by Suriya and Vikram Malhotra. Suriya will have a special appearance in the Hindi remake.
Pippa starring Ishaan Khattar is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak 1971 war and Ishaan Khattar is playing the role of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, a war hero. Pippa is adapted from the book The Burning Chaffees by Brigadier Mehta. Though Ishaan Khattar has done a few movies till now but most of them besides Dhadak his debut movie didn’t do well at the box office and Pippa can be the movie that may be a turning point of his career.
- Srikanth Bolla
The real-life story of Srikanth Bolla is an inspiration for all. He was born visually impaired but he was always interested in studies. After passing his Tenth board exams he wanted to get into the science stream but was denied because he was blind but he was not ready to surrender to this decision and fought a case that went on for six months and finally got admission to the science department and later he founded a billion dollar company. Rajkumar Rao is playing Srikanth Bolla in his biopic which is directed by Tushar Hiranandani.
- Main Atal Hoon
Main Atal Hoon is an upcoming biopic on India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one of the most respected politicians ever and even his opponents adored and respected him. Along with being a politician, he was a brilliant poet also. Pankaj Tripathi is playing the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the movie which is directed by Ravi Jadhav who is mainly active in the Marathi movie industry and also a National award winner. Main Atal Hoon is scheduled to release on 25 January 2023.
Taali starring Sushmita Sen in the lead tells the story of transgender social activist Gauri Sawant. The first poster of the movie was unveiled some months ago and received lots of appreciation. While asked about the movie and why she is doing it, Sushmita Sen said, “It is a mark of respect for us that a female actor is playing the role, instead of a male actor, which we have seen happening in the past”. The movie is directed by Arjun Singh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar and produced by Viacom 18.
