Diabetes is fast becoming one of the most rampant health problems across the globe. There is no cure for diabetes and all we can do is to take the necessary steps to prevent it or if someone is already diabetic, lead a healthy lifestyle to keep it in check. There are mainly two types of diabetes which are divided into type 1 and type 2 diabetes and around 90% of diabetics are having type 2 diabetes. Its development can be gradual, and symptoms can be insignificant during the early stages. Because of this, a large number of people ignore the symptoms and get to know about them when it becomes severe. It’s very important to know about the early signs of diabetes so that one can take the necessary treatment for it.

Here are seven early signs of type 2 diabetes.

  1. Frequent Urination

One of the most common signs of type 2 diabetes is the urge to urinate more frequently than normal. It’s because when the blood sugar level is high, the kidneys attempt to get out the extra sugar by filtering it out through urine. It may result in a person having the urge to urinate more especially during the night time.

  1. Feeling Thirsty Often

Another early sign of type 2 diabetes is feeling thirsty most of the time as compared to being normal. Because of frequent urination, the body needs more water and the feeling of being thirsty is more as the body becomes dehydrated and one can feel more thirsty than normal.

  1. Feeling Hungry Everytime

If a person is always feeling hungry, there is a big chance that he may be suffering from type 2 diabetes and it’s because diabetics mostly don’t get energy from food as compared to normal people. The digestive system turns food into a simple sugar called glucose, and it provides energy to the body. But if someone is diabetic, his body is not able to turn the food into energy thus the feeling of being hungry increases.

  1. Feeling Tired More than Usual

Type 2 diabetes can affect the energy levels in a person because of this; the person can be tired or fatigued more than a healthy person. This tiredness happens because the body is not able to change the foods into energy hence the feeling of being tired Everytime increases manifold.

  1. Cuts or Wounds are Not Healing Properly

When someone is suffering from diabetes, the high levels of sugar in the blood can harm the body’s nerves and blood vessels, and it affects blood circulation as it slows down. Because of this, even small cuts and wounds might take very long times even weeks or months to be healed. The risk of infection also increases because of the slow healing of cuts and wounds.

  1. Dark Skin Patches

If someone is suffering from type 2 diabetes, there are high chances of having dark patches on the skin. When someone gets affected by diabetes, he or she will notice dark patches on his/her body, especially in parts like the neck, armpit, and groin. While touching these patches, it may feel very soft and cushiony. Immediately consult a dermatologist to make sure it’s happening because of some skin problem. If there is no skin problem, there is a high chance of having type 2 diabetes.

  1. Pain or Numbness in Hands and Feet.

High blood sugar levels affect the blood circulation in the body which results in damaged nerves. If someone is suffering from type 2 diabetes, pain or a sense of stinging or numbness in the hands and feet increases. This ailment is known as neuropathy, and it can deteriorate over a period of time. The condition may create some serious problems if the person is not taking diabetes treatment.
