5 Healthy Recipes of Raw Banana for Diabetic patients

One of the most healthy and nutritious foods rich in several essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber, raw bananas, also known as green bananas. A staple food in South India, a distinct flavor can be given  to dishes by adding raw bananas to it.

Raw bananas are known for promoting heart health, reducing cholesterol, and are a great healthy diet option for those who suffer from diabetes. Green or raw bananas have been found to be a good source of dietary fiber,particularly starch that is resistant to changes by cooking. It is low in glycemic index food, which means its consumption doesn’t cause a sugar spike, making it good for diabetics.

Here are some of the raw banana recipes that are beneficial for diabetic patients:

  • Raw banana kebabs

If you are looking for a healthy alternative to binge at parties, this  raw banana kebab recipe is a perfect appetizer. For preparation, cut the bananas and cook them in a pressure cooker to make them nice and soft. Mash them along with buckwheat flour, black pepper powder, coriander, rock salt, and green chilies. Now make flat, round balls from the kebab mixture and fry them in oil until they turn golden brown. Enjoy it hot with some tamarind and coriander chutney.

  • Raw banana fritters

These raw banana fritters are perfect for you if you like crispy yet soft snacks as these banana fritters are crispy from the outside, creamy from the inside. Whisk some gram flour, chili powder, asafoetida, carom seeds, baking soda, turmeric powder, other spices of your choice, salt to taste and prepare the batter. Dip raw banana slices in the batter and deep-fry them in hot oil. It is suggested to serve hot with green chutney.

  • Raw banana kofta

This raw banana kofta recipe is spicy, crispy, and infused with different delicious flavors. For preparation, Boil some raw bananas and mash them well. For flavour, add ginger, green chili, cashews, black pepper, arrowroot flour, cumin powder, mint leaves, curry leaves to it and mix everything well. Shape them into round or square patties and golden fry them in some sesame oil. Get ready to savour them hot!

  • Raw banana poriyal

This dry sauteed South Indian curry goes well with sambar rice or rasam, known as raw banana poriyal. Firstly, add raw bananas, turmeric, and salt to a pan, pour some water and cook for at least five-six minutes. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and urad dal and sauté them in oil. Then add the raw bananas, sprinkle some salt and chili powder, and toss well. Enjoy this with rice! 

  • Raw banana curry

This one is a traditional curry recipe dish  from South India and is best enjoyed with some rice. To prepare banana curry, grind coconut, salt, turmeric, red chili powder, and tamarind pulp with some water. Add raw bananas, prepared paste, onions, salt, and garam masala in a pan. Attain the desired consistency by adding some water.

Cook on simmer until properly cooked, and enjoy the curry.
